A Slice of Cloudsdale

In an alternate universe where more than three Wonderbolts exist. (And now I wait for someone to 1-up me by doing other Wonderbolts that I didn't do, because there are several more. I'd like that, actually.)

On the left is Fire Streak, who, as far as I'm concerned, is the second-most prominent male Wonderbolt, which in retrospect, doesn't actually say much about him. On the right is Misty Fly, the original-third-most prominent Wonderbolt overall. Unfortunately for her, having merchandise of oneself just didn't stack against being named in-show, and subsequently having a role in a comic book series arc. That being said, they're nowhere near as big or known as the "Wonderbolt Big Three".

There were a lot of things I liked about the Equestria Games episode (primarily the visuals), and things I didn't quite like (caused by the hardships of having constraints on a TV show with a specific criteria and quota). So, I decided to have another go at another Equestria Games piece, with the theme; "Things That Were Never Seen And Probably Will Never Be Seen Ever, Thus, Obligatory Fan Art".

Eye colors (or in Misty's case, eye design) are generally influenced by popular fanon. Misty's eye color in this piece was a personal choice to complement her hair color, in most other fan art—the little she has, anyway—her eyes are typically a darker shade of blue. I also gave her elliptical eyes with curled upper eyelashes, as opposed to the pointed eyes seen on the other Wonderbolts whose eyes have been revealed (Spitfire and Fleetfoot), and as opposed to the straight eyelashes seen on most female ponies. This mostly comes from myself associating the female Wonderbolts with more feminine eyes (that's how I call them, anyway) and eyelash design, mostly from seeing Spitfire's and Fleetfoot's as examples, but also because the straight-eyelash model is super-common already. This eye and eyelash model is generally seen on ponies such as Applejack, Nurse Redheart, Trixie, Flitter (albeit inconsistently), and a similar model is seen on Ms. Peachbottom.

Those uniforms were worth the tediousness and effort, especially putting Misty's upper piece together since she's posed at a more-forward angle that doesn't leave a lot of room for the end of her upper piece when you take her wings and the wing holes into account, but I'm pleased with how they came out on both of them. (All that clipping madness so that everything lines up neatly, I tell ya.)

Fire Streak was always a vectoring interest, but I never really did him as much as I would have hoped to do since he requires more effort, persistence, and, well, originality than I'm generally used to, and I didn't feel I had as much ability to do him as well as I'd want to, at least until now, to an extent. This time, he was a lot quicker and easier to produce and looks better than I had imagined. I had a bit of fun playing with his mane design since his head is never shown turned at this angle, like I have done on some other ponies, too. Well, both of these ponies had a definite lack in proper reference material, so I in turn took the liberty to try things out and design retouching, generally free of "standards" or "constraints". This is probably how it feels to actually try something...original? Well, I'm not so sure if I can use that word to refer to my kind of stuff just yet. Maybe once I try a medium that isn't vector tracing digitization...

Other than that, distractions have kept me from finishing this as quick as I would have wanted to, but that's all done now. I think.
