Ivory Stares At You

The stare is endless.


I've seen a lot of art and show-style art/vectors of crystallized ponies, or the crystallization of not-originally-crystal ponies, including one of my own, but few pieces outside of screencap or NSFW-type content for the background crystal ponies, whether they are male or female, or if they have the crystal effect added.

I guess you could say this was a warm-up for what's to come, hopefully.  This one in particular didn't have the crystal effect added (I've done it once before, though), but I liked his color scheme and overall look, and thus he became my first background crystal pony subject compared to the two other prominent crystal pony personalities that share his general design.  Those gradients can be painful though, but I guess I'll get used to them eventually.  I also noticed that in the episode, the polygonal eye reflections or even the eye gradients were relatively inconsistent, where they'd switch between elliptical eye reflections and then polygonal reflections either compared to the pony next to them, or when they blinked and turned their heads.  I've fixed that issue with this one.

As far as background stallions go, the crystal ones appeared to stimulate a major revamping of their assets, with less and less parts recycled/upscaled from the mare assets (i.e. some of the walking cycles and bits involving when they face 3Q-away), but some parts still obsolete and from the mare assets here and there.  Though this trend would continue in a more positive light as assets were made for brand-new characters, before extending to the usual background stallions by Season 4, I guess.
